Telangana Student Drowns in Toronto Lake on His Birthday

A tragic incident occurred in Toronto, Canada, where Praneeth, a student from Telangana, India, drowned while swimming with friends in a lake on his birthday. Praneeth, originally from Meerpet, had moved to Canada in 2019 to pursue his Masters and was celebrating his special day with his friends when the unfortunate event unfolded.

Videos taken prior to the incident show Praneeth joyfully celebrating on a motorboat, and later jumping into the lake. However, during a group swim on Sunday, while the others returned safely, Praneeth did not resurface. His grieving father has appealed to the government for assistance in bringing his son’s body back to India.

This is one of several recent cases of Indian students tragically drowning while abroad, with incidents reported in Germany, France, Russia, and now Canada. Authorities are urging students to consult locals and exercise caution, especially in unfamiliar environments.
