60% of International Students Seek Global Education for Career Opportunities

A recent survey revealed that 60% of international students seek education abroad to access high-ranking institutions and quality programs, while 58% are motivated by enhanced career opportunities post-graduation. Conducted by NCUK and IDP Education, the report surveyed 1,000 students globally, highlighting variations in motivation across different countries.

Peruvian and Nigerian students prioritized career development at 75% and 68%, respectively, while 74% of Ghanaian students favored social networking opportunities. Andy Howells, NCUK’s Chief Marketing Officer, emphasized the value international students place on education quality, noting that NCUK pathways prepare students for both academic and career success.

However, financial challenges and evolving immigration policies in major study destinations like the US, UK, Canada, and Australia are reshaping preferences. IDP’s research found that 64% of students reconsidered studying abroad due to rising living costs and declining value for money.

To address financial concerns, NCUK offers in-country pathway programs, enabling students to begin their studies at home and reduce expenses before moving abroad. “Many students now prefer starting their education at home for financial reasons,” Howells added, reflecting a growing trend in global education strategies.
