Studying abroad offers an incredible opportunity to gain a world-class education, experience diverse cultures, and build valuable global connections. However, for many students, the financial burden of studying in Australia can be significant due to the strength of the foreign currency. To help international students overcome this challenge, the Australian Government has introduced the Destination Australia Scholarship.
This scholarship is part of the National Strategy for International Education 2025, an initiative aimed at promoting regional education in Australia. It supports international students by providing financial assistance while encouraging growth in regional universities and colleges.
For 2025, the University of Queensland (UQ) is offering this scholarship to eligible students studying at its Gatton campus. The scholarship provides AUD 7,500 per semester (approximately INR 4,00,000), paid in instalments.
Key Details:
- Application Deadline: January 20, 2025, by 12 PM (for Semester 1, 2025).
- Eligibility Criteria:
- You must be an international student with a valid student visa.
- You must be a UQ graduate starting a new program, such as a Master’s degree after completing a Bachelor’s.
- You must hold a full offer for an eligible program at UQ’s Gatton campus. Accepting the offer by the scholarship deadline is not mandatory.
The scholarship is disbursed after the academic census date in the first semester or research quarter, once eligibility and obligations are confirmed. A second instalment of AUD 7,500 will be paid within six months of the first, provided the student maintains academic progress and fulfils scholarship requirements.
