IELTS exam was formed to help the universities to evaluate the English language skills of the applicants. Now a day’s most of the US Universities are accepting IELTS score as an alternative to TOEFL test.
IELTS exam will have two formats
- Academic
- General.
Applicants to US universities need to take Academic IELTS test. You have to mention this when you are registering for the test.
IELTS Test Format
There are four section/modules in the Academic IELTS Test. Total Test Time: 2hr 45min (Depending upon test center speaking test may take place up to 7 days before or after the test date)

Order of the Test Modules in the real test: Listening comes first, then Academic Reading, Academic Writing, Speaking.
