The German ambassador to India, Philipp Ackermann, has emphasized the significant improvement in visa services, ensuring quick issuance of visas.
This move is particularly beneficial considering that Indian students make up the largest international student group in Germany, with numbers reaching an impressive 42,000 in 2023, marking a 25% annual increase. The German hospitality extends beyond the classroom, as Indians spent a remarkable total of 623,363 nights in Germany in 2022, immersing themselves in the country’s culture, history, and scenic beauty.
For those unfamiliar, the German missions in India issue two types of visas: the Schengen visa (for visits up to 90 days) and the German National visa (for stays exceeding 90 days). Interested Indians are advised to apply for their intended visa at least three months before their travel date. Despite the new expedited process, the maximum processing time for visa applications is 6 to 15 days.
